The National Football League (NFL) regular season starts the weekend after Labor Day. Prior to 1960, the number of games on each team's schedule varied but never exceeded 12 games. Then, from 1961-1977, the NFL went to a 14-game schedule played over 14 weeks. Currently, since 1978, the NFL schedule consists of 16 games. In 1990, the NFL introduced a bye-week to the schedule spreading the 16 games over a 17-week period.
The Arizona Cardinals 16-game schedule includes eight games at home and eight on the road. As the Arizona Cardinals play in the NFC West Division, they will play six games against divisional opponents; one home and one away game for each team in their division. The other teams in the NFC West include the St. Louis Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals play their home games in University of Phoenix Stadium, which is located in Glendale, AZ.
 The official 2010 NFL Schedule was released on April 20, 2010. We will find out the preseason schedule at a later time. In addition to playing their NFC West rivals twice in the upcoming season, the Cardinals will also face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, and the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints at home. On the road, the Cardinals will face the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, and the San Diego Chargers.
The Arizona Cardinals are coming off a solid 2009 season where they finished with a 10-6 record and won the NFC West Divisional Title. They advanced to the Divisional round of the NFL Playoffs where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. For the upcoming season, the Cardinals will feature a largely revamped team. At the conclusion of the season, the Cardinals starting quarterback Kurt Warner retired and the team also saw several key players depart via free agency or via trade (Karlos Dansby, Anquan Boldin, Antrel Rolle. The team will look to Matt Leinart to take over the quarterback spot in 2010.
