The 2010 Pittsburgh Steelers schedule consists of 16 regular season games, eight of which will be played at home at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The exact dates and times of all Pittsburgh Steelers 2010 regular season games, along with the television coverage of each game, was announced on April 20, 2010.
The Steelers will be without star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for at least the first four games of the season after he was suspended on April 21, 2010, in violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy. The suspension, which can last as long as six games, comes in response to allegations of sexual assault.
The schedule consists of home and away games against fellow AFC North teams, plus four games against each of the AFC East teams. Another four games will be played against each of the NFC South teams as well as one game each against teams from the AFC North and AFC West that finished in the same divisional position as the Steelers in the 2009 season.
Home opponents include the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers. Road opponents will be the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, along with rematches against Baltimore, Cincinnati and Cleveland.
The Pittsburgh Steelers 2009 season consisted of nine wins and seven losses, placing them third in the AFC North. Their wins and losses came in chunks as they lost two games, won the next five, then dropped the next five before finishing the season with three wins. Notable losses came to lower-ranked teams such as the Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders, while the Steelers also defeated the higher-ranked teams of the San Diego Chargers, Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos.
